300 Undergraduate Research Experience in Pharmacy Systems, Outcomes and Policy
1 TO 3 hours. Supports the academic environment for undergraduate students at UIC. The research experience will be under the guidance of a faculty member who will act as a research supervisor. Satisfactory/Unstatisfatory grading only. May be repeated. Application of credit toward the degree is contingent upon the approval of the student's college and/or department. Previously listed as PMAD 300. Prerequisite(s): Consent of the instructor supervising the research experience. Open only to sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

380 Undergraduate Research in Pharmacy Systems, Outcomes and Policy
1 TO 3 hours. Investigation, under the direction of one or more faculty members, of a problem of limited scope. May require literature research related to the research project. May be repeated. A maximum of 6 hours of credit is allowed per department. A total of not more than 8 hours of 380 and 390 numbered courses in the college may be applied toward the 12 hours of PharmD professional electives. Previously listed as PMAD 380. Prerequisite(s): Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 and consent of the instructor, department head, and Associate Dean for Student Affairs.

381 Professional Development Seminar I
1 hours. Weekly seminar series for second professional year pharmacy students. Discusses educational issues related to the second professional year. Students create/update Curriculum Vitae; explore various pharmacy career opportunities. Credit is not given for PSOP 381 if the student has credit for BPS 381 or PMMP 381 or PMPR 371. 387 Critical Dialogue (CD) for Professional Student Development
2 hours. This highly interactive course engages pharmacy students in a broad conceptualization of pharmaceutical practice in a multicultural society. Previously listed as PMAD 387.

389 Online Contemporary Issues in Pharmacy Student Development
2 hours. Introduces students to various contemporary pharmacy issues through the lens of a multi-disciplinary health education policy analysis. Previously listed as PMAD 389.

390 Special Projects in Pharmacy Systems, Outcomes and Policy
0 TO 2 hours. Special projects within the departmental discipline. Defined and terminal project goals are achieved through independent study. 1 to 2 hours. May be repeated. A maximum of 4 hours of 390 credit is allowed in all departments. A total of not more than 8 hours of 380 and 390 numbered courses in the college may be applied toward the 12 hours of PharmD professional electives. Previously listed as PMAD 390. 397 Capstone Project in Urban Healthcare
2 hours. This is the seventh and final course in a series, and is the capstone project. Prerequisite(s): Successful completion of UPHARM program years 1-3.

421 Pharmaceutical Marketing
3 hours. Introduction to the field of marketing with specific emphasis on pharmaceuticals and the marketing of pharmacy services. Previously listed as PMAD 421.

426 Pharmacoepidemiology
3 hours. Provides an introduction to pharmacoepidemiology and key concepts and principles that are unique to the study of medications in large populations. Same as EPID 426. Previously listed as PMAD 426. Prerequisite(s): EPID 400 or EPID 403 or consent of the instructor. Priority in enrollement is given to graduate students in the health sciences.

470 Managed Care Pharmacy
3 hours. Professional development in managed care pharmacy to learn history, administrative and policy aspects, network with operational managers and leaders in field, visit managed care sites and observe activies of managed care pharmacists. Previously listed as PMAD 470. Prerequisite(s): Third year standing in the Doctor of Pharmacy program or second year standing in the Doctor of Pharmacy program with consent of the instructor, or graduate standing in pharmacy.

482 Professional Practice Management
3 hours. Managerial functions of the pharmacist in all practice environments with emphasis on the planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling of resources. Previously listed as PMAD 482.

484 Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis
3 hours. The course will discuss the concepts, process, and statistical methods required to perform a systematic review or meta-analysis of a large body of empirical findings. Previously listed as PMAD 484. Extensive computer use required. Prerequisite(s): EPID 400 or BSTT 400 and PHAR 355 or PSOP 502 or graduate or professional standing or consent of the instructor.

494 Special Topics in Pharmacy Systems, Outcomes and Policy

502 Research Methods in Pharmacy Systems, Outcomes and Policy
4 hours. Overview of the research process in the social, behavioral, and economic pharmaceutical sciences from problem identification and conceptualization through data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Previously listed as PMAD 502. Prerequisite(s): Consent of the instructor is required for non-departmental students.

507 Pharmacy and Its Environment
2 hours. Factors directly influencing the practice of pharmacy. Roles of the pharmacist as affected by contemporary organizational, legislative societal and fiscal environments in the U.S. Previously listed as PMAD 507. Prerequisite(s): Admission into the M.S. or Ph.D. in Pharmacy Program.

510 Problems in Pharmacy Management
3 hours. Selective managerial problems relative to pharmacy practice in complex healthcare environments. Previously listed as PMAD 510. Prerequisite(s): PSOP 482 or the equivalent.

525 Medication, Identity and Illness
3 hours. Examines the role of pharmaceutical care and medication-taking in the social context of chronic illness. Previously listed as PMAD 525. Prerequisite(s): Credit or concurrent registration in PHAR 344 or consent of the instructor.

535 Pharmaceutical Policy
3 hours. Introduces key features of pharmaceutical policy and provides a framework for analyzing and evaluating current policy issues that affect the development and provision of safe, effective and affordable medications in the U.S. Previously listed as PMAD 535.

573 Principles of Economic Evaluations of Health Care Interventions
3 hours. Principles, models and practical methods for the economic evaluation of health care services with an emphasis on pharmaceutical care. Same as HPA 573. Previously listed as PMAD 573. Prerequisite(s): HPA 460; and consent of the instructor.

575 Educational Instruction and Practice in Pharmacy Systems, Outcomes and Policy

577 Applied Population Health Survey Research
3 hours. Development of computer programming skills and knowledge of statistical techniques for analyzing population health survey data. Previously listed as PMAD 577. 579 Advanced Methods in Outcomes Research and Grant Writing

580 Advanced Decision Analysis Techniques I
2 hours. Exposes students to advanced decision analysis and related sensitivity analysis methodologies. Previously listed as PMAD 580. Extensive computer use required. 581 Advanced Decision Analysis Techniques II
1 hours. The purpose will be to gain experience using techniques germane to the advanced decision analysis and related sensitivity analysis methodologies taught in PSOP 580.
