305 Advanced Standing DMD Program for Foreign-Trained Faculty
0 TO 18 hours. Represents coursework found in the DMD program, used for tuition assessment and registration purposes. Avenue by which full-time faculty members in the College of Dentistry with foreign dental degrees obtain the DMD degree. Lectures, clinical work. Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory grading only. May be repeated. Students may register in more than one section per term. No graduation credit. Prerequisite(s): Full-time appointment as a faculty member in the UIC College of Dentistry; possession of a certificate of completed training in one of the ADA-recognized dental specialties from an accredited program in the U.S. or Canada, and successful completion of all sections of Part I of the American National Dental Board.

313 Introduction to Research
1 hours. The objective is to introduce concepts which are central to scientific investigation, identify current problems in dental science and develop skills in reading scientific literature. Prerequisite(s): Enrollment in the Doctor of Dental Surgery program.

314 Comprehensive Care I A
6 hours. In the context of clinical care students discover the oral-facial complex through application of clinical skills and disease risk assessment using ethical and evidence-based methods.

315 Comprehensive Care I B
5 hours. Continuation of DAdm 314. Students build on clinical skills that include radiology, occlusal function, evidence based dentistry, human behavior, periodontics and community-based experiences. Prerequisite(s): DADM 314.

316 Comprehensive Care II A
5 hours. An initial common skills course in the dental curriculum that includes exposing radiographs, rubber dental dam use, bleaching, fluorides, pit and fissure sealants and risk factors for oral diseases. Prerequisite(s): DADM 315.

317 Comprehensive Care II - B
4 hours. Fourth course in a comprehensive care series, students learn to examine patients, generate scientifically and clinically based diagnosis, present evidence-based treatment plans, manage patient care and access outcomes. Extensive computer use required.

318 Comprehensive Care II-C
6 hours. Students learn to examine patients, generate scientifically and clinically based diagnosis, present evidence-based treatment plans, manage patient care and access outcomes. Extensive computer use required.

319 Comprehensive Care III-A
3 hours. Fifth course in a comprehensive care series, students learn to examine patients, generate scientifically and clinically based diagnosis, present evidence-based treatment plans, manage patient care and access outcomes.

320 Comprehensive Care III - B
4 hours. Seventh course in a comprehensive care series, students learn to examine patients, generate scientifically and clinically based diagnosis, present evidence-based treatment plans, manage patient care and access outcomes. Extensive computer use required.

321 Comprehensive Care III-C
5 hours. Students learn to examine patients, generate scientifically and clinically based diagnosis, present evidence-based treatment plans, manage patient care and access outcomes.

325 Extramural Clinical Experience
0 TO 12 hours. Students provide comprehensive dental services to diverse populations in rural settings and in the Chicago metropolitan area under the guidance of community-based faculty. May be repeated. Students may register in more than one section per term.

332 Comprehensive Care IV-A
3 hours. Students learn to examine patients, generate scientifically and clinically based diagnosis, present evidence-based treatment plans, manage patient care and access outcomes. Extensive computer use required.

333 Comprehensive Care IV-B
4 hours. Students learn to examine patients, generate scientifically and clinically based diagnosis, present evidence-based treatment plans, manage patient care and access outcomes. Extensive computer use required.

334 Comprehensive Care IV-C
5 hours. Student learn to examine patients, generate scientifically and clinically based diagnosis, present evidence-based treatment plans, manage patient care and access outcomes. Extensive computer use required.

341 Dental Therapeutics
1 hours. Reviews the characteristics of pharmacological agents, as used in dentistry. Prerequisite(s): PCOL 331 and enrollment in the Doctor of Dental Surgery program.

396 Independent Study in Dentistry
0 TO 12 hours. Faculty supervised independent study in any of the dental disciplines covering topics not included in regular course offerings. Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory grading only. May be repeated. Students may register in more than one section per term. No credit is given toward the DMD or DDS degree. Prerequisite(s): Enrollment in the DDS or DMD Program and consent of the instructor.

399 Extended Senior Clinics
0 TO 16 hours. Continuation of senior clinical activities and requirements. The course is established for students to complete their senior year D.D.S. clinical requirements. It is used for registration purposes and may be used for full-time tuition assessment. Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory grading only. No graduation credit. Prerequisite(s): DADM 304 or consent of the associate dean for academic affairs.
