The Department of Information and Decision Sciences offers instruction in the integration of information systems design with the interdisciplinary sciences of decision making. It explores the synergy between information management, information technology, operations management, risk management, and statistics in today’s business organizations, and exploits them for business value. It is at the cutting edge of today’s business innovations.
Majors in Information and Decision Sciences take courses that give a thorough background in information systems, operations management, and statistics, and an up-to-date knowledge of one or more of the disciplines chosen by the student. This will enable a graduate of the program to bring an analytical approach to the solution of management problems and to find employment in fields such as information systems development, business process management, operations and production management, business analytics, and statistical data analysis. The program also provides ideal preparation for graduate study leading to the MS in Management Information Systems, Master of Business Administration, and other advanced degrees.
Students are also referred to Statistics and Operations Research in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences section of the catalog.
